For Ann Diment

For Ann Diment

We met as Zoomers on a screen,

Part of Liv's online tribal shoal;

A like-minded pair of Rainbow Fish

Swimming against the flow

Of COVID-19.

When I met you for real

After the lockdowns ended, in Yeovil,

Your infectious aura cheered me on

As I took to the real mic for the first time,

Unscreened emotion, literally.

We met again as Hot Poets Sparks,

A climate agenda, awareness-senders;

Your creation was born of water and wellbeing,

While mine was born of solar rays and renewed energy

For poetry.

Onward, onto the Quantocks we walked,

Creating poetry of place,

In Coleridge's wake;

12 poets wandering,

Recording, performing, applauding, each other.

You've been alongside me Ann,

Every step of the way,

In more ways than one!

So before you move on

I'd just like to say...Thank you!

And now it is time

For you to leave this land of Summer people

As a poet among friends,

A friend among poets,

Our journey together will never end.

A Wensley
